In this introductory class, we’ll explore the fundamentals of charcoal drawing using the powerful techniques from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. Through guided exercises and hands-on practice with charcoal on paper, you'll develop essential observational skills, improve hand-eye coordination, and learn to draw what you see—not what you think you see. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, you'll leave the class with a new perspective on the world around you and the confidence to express it on the page.
Instructor Bio:
Addie DeLong received her B.S. in fine art and business from Eastern Oregon University in 2014. After graduation she moved to Bend Oregon and as of 2023 is the head art teacher at Trinity Lutheran School. She has had shows in different shops downtown Bend, at Lone Pine Coffee, and at Art Center East in LaGrande. She continues to pursue her art goals as a mama of three young children.
