Come celebrate the start of Summer with the Library 2026!

Frolic at Alpenglow Park in Bend to celebrate the beginning of Summer with the Library 2026. 

On the Alpenglow stage, join Alex Reininger for an all-ages line dancing lesson. Alex, the founder of Mindful Motion, is a Bend-based movement instructor passionate about helping people of all ages get moving, connect, and have fun. She’s especially passionate about teaching kids, creating playful, encouraging spaces where they can build confidence, be themselves, and experience the joy of movement. Raised in Bend, Alex is also part of the family behind Leapin’ Lizards Toy Company, a beloved downtown toy store, which deeply influences her fun, imaginative, and community-centered approach to teaching.

Alex's dance lessons are upbeat, a little silly, and welcoming to everyone—no experience needed! Participants can expect to start with familiar favorites like the "Chicken Dance" or the "Cupid Shuffle," then build up to classic line dances like the "Electric Slide" and fun newer dances like “Giddy Up.” The focus is always on having fun, trying something new, and moving together as a community. The lesson will run from 10:30am to 11:30am and is open to all. 

Before and after the performance, the library and several community organizations will be sharing activities and community information.

We will also be joined by Face Painting by Anne and the Children's Museum of Central Oregon! Enjoy an open playtime with some of the museum's favorite displays. Children’s Museum of Central Oregon is on a mission to inspire curiosity and creativity through hands-on, open-ended exploration and play.  We are inspired by our Central Oregon surroundings and passionate about infusing experiences with STEAM phenomena.
