Civics Lab: Human Library Edition
Know Media
Thursday, October 22
5:30pm - 7:30pm
Central Library
Community 3Take a step past the media and connect with community leaders directly.
This event is designed for participants ages 12 and up.
I Had No Idea (Part 2) is a welcoming, nonpartisan community event designed to make civic participation more human and less intimidating. We’ll start with a Human Library-style connection round: short, guided conversations between community members and local candidates/civic leaders, then we'll move into a moderated CivicsLab candidate panel based on community questions.
About Embrace Bend & CivicsLab
Embrace Bend is a community-based organization working to strengthen belonging, civic participation, and respectful dialogue in Bend and Central Oregon. Through CivicsLab and Human Library-style events, we create spaces where residents can learn, ask questions, and build relationships across difference. Our work centers curiosity, transparency, and community care.
The CivicsLab program brings together residents, public officials, and local organizations to:
- Build relationships and foster dialogue.
- Co-create solutions for a more inclusive community.
- Empower participants to navigate systems and elevate diverse voices.
- Through workshops, Human Library events, and collaborative projects, Embrace Bend empowers participants to drive transformative change. We believe that meaningful conversation and active participation are the keys to building a stronger, more equitable Bend for all.
