The story of the Skagit River is truly a story about our complex human relationship with nature. Come experience an evening of natural beauty, ecological wonder, and a nuanced perspective of our human role in an incredible watershed.

Bend-based author and photographer Christian Murillo spent three years on the Skagit River, telling the story of an incredible watershed, which few people outside of Northern Washington have ever heard of. The Skagit River teaches us about what sustainable balance between humans and an ecosystem can look like, and how climate change is increasing pressures on relationships throughout the watershed. The beauty of the Skagit is undeniable, but what it can teach us is even more potent. 

About the Presenter:

Christian Murillo is an author, professional photographer, and environmental storyteller based in Bend, Oregon. He has worked with institutions like National Geographic, The Smithsonian, and Harvard University, communicating the interconnected relationships between humans and nature, particularly within the context of climate change.
