Discover photography fundamentals and bring your creative vision to life.
This workshop is intended for teens between the ages of 13 and 17.
In this hands-on session, participants will explore the fundamentals of photography through the basics of composition, shutter speed, and aperture, empowering them to move beyond snapshots and into intentional storytelling. Participants will learn how to distinguish between story-driven and action shots, gaining tools to capture images that honor identity, community, and lived experience. Whether you're photographing family, nature, or community events, this workshop will help you develop the technical skills to bring your creative vision to life.
Eduardo Romero (he/him) is a first-generation Latino artist, storyteller, and community leader born and raised in Bend, Oregon. With over two decades of experience in photography, Eduardo uses visual storytelling as a tool for empowerment, healing, and cultural affirmation. As the founder of Quetzal Creatives, his work is rooted in redefining representation, capturing the beauty, strength, and individuality of communities of color with intentionality and care. Eduardo’s photography is not just about documenting moments, it’s about creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and celebrated. His images challenge stereotypes and uplift narratives that are too often overlooked, centering dignity and authenticity in every frame.
In addition to his artistic work, Eduardo serves as a leader with Vámonos Outside, a nonprofit that promotes equity and inclusion in outdoor recreation. His dual commitment to art and community organizing reflects a deep passion for justice, cultural visibility, and collective joy. Through his workshops, Eduardo invites participants to explore identity, creativity, and representation, offering both inspiration and tools for building more inclusive visual cultures.
