Take a tour of the Viking Age with William Sullivan.
Were the Vikings barbaric raiders, as they are often portrayed? In this slide show tour of the Viking Age, Sullivan takes us to actual archeological sites and recounts genuine sagas that reveal a deeper truth. Based on his research for a series of four historical novels, we'll learn about the Norwegian queen who defeated the Vikings, the Danish king who conquered England, the Swedish Vikings who founded Ukraine, and the Icelandic adventurers who sailed to America.
Sullivan is the author of eight novels and 16 nonfiction books. He speaks Danish and German and reads in Norwegian and Swedish. His adventure memoir Listening for Coyote was chosen by the Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission as one of Oregon's 100 Books, the most significant books in the state's history. He lives in Eugene but does much of his writing at a log cabin, far from roads or electricity, in Oregon's Coast Range.
Books will be available for sale.
