Civic Resilience: Bridging Divides Post Election

When the results are counted and winners declared, some people will rejoice, while others will be distraught. With a focus on building resilient communities, three local experts in civics and community building will share their thoughts on how community members in our region can move forward and work together after the election, regardless of the results.

Geared toward guests of all ages, this panel was developed with SAGE (Senior Advocates for Generational Equity) a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting people to work across generations to build a brighter future.

Panelists:

Amy Sabbadini is the Civics Learning Project’s Regional Program Manager for the Central Oregon area, and a National Board-certified social studies teacher with decades of classroom experience. She currently serves as an instructor in OSU-Cascades’ Master of Teaching program and has been mentoring emerging professionals for years. Amy led Oregon Writing Project workshops for teachers over many summers and enjoys educator collaboration and curriculum development.

Dan Duggan: After a 30-year career leading high-tech organizations, Dan began a 17-year career as a leadership consultant for small to medium-sized companies. He believes if each of us stop when agitated or discouraged and examine our underlying beliefs around our current situation, we will always find a way through to a place of groundedness and peace. He finds he loves helping others discover that we all have way more in common than seemingly intractable differences.

Kellen Klein is Executive Director of Citizens4Community (C4C) – a nonpartisan nonprofit that fosters a connected community in and around Sisters by encouraging civility, collaboration, and civic engagement. Founded in 2016, C4C designs and produces local programs that bring folks together, build trust, enable cooperation, cultivate local pride, and help everyone get engaged in the powerful act of community building

Steve Higgs is the Executive Director of SAGE where he leads SAGE’s efforts to inspire older adults to give forward for younger and future generations. He is responsible for implementing SAGE’s programs, such as its Citizen Project, and managing its communications and operations.

SAGE (Senior Advocates for Generational Equity) is a nonprofit and nonpartizan organization that inspires people over fifty to give forward so that future generations can thrive. SAGE welcomes opportunities to support intergenerational initiative and conversations.
