About the Authors:

Theodore C. Van Alst, Jr. (enrolled member, Mackinac Bands of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians) is the author of Tillie Olsen Award Winning Sacred Smokes (2018) and Electa Quinney Award Winning Sacred City (2021) as well as the editor of The Faster Redder Road: The Best UnAmerican Stories of Stephen Graham Jones (2015), all from the University of New Mexico Press. His work has been published in Southwest Review, The Rumpus, Red Earth Review, The Journal of Working-Class Studies, Chicago Review, Electric Literature, and Indian Country Today, among others. His debut novel, The El, a semi-autobiographical novel that follows a group of teenage gang members as they trek across Chicago to a momentous meeting was published in August 2025.

Daniel H. Wilson is a Cherokee citizen and the multiple New York Times bestselling author of techno-thrillers such as Robopocalypse, The Clockwork Dynasty, and The Andromeda Evolution (an authorized sequel to the Crichton classic). He earned a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as Masters degrees in Machine Learning and Robotics. His next novel, Hole in the Sky, is a story of Native First Contact, releases on October 7th, 2025.

About the Festival:

Sisters Festival of Books (SFOB) is a gathering place for readers, writers and community as well as a celebration of literature and storytelling. SFOB 2025 will take place over the weekend of September 12th - 14th across multiple venues in Sisters and include a community StorySLAM, author readings, presentations, signings, an author dinner, a local author showcase and multiple writing workshops. This year’s festival features 25+ authors, primarily from Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. SFOB is also committed to highlighting the work of hyper-local authors and uplifting the voices of writers in Central Oregon. With a wide array of programmatic offerings and diverse representation of authors and genres, the festival offers attendees the opportunity to learn, exercise their creative voice and build a more connected community through the literary arts!
