What is ham radio, how did it start, why is it called ham? Explore the electromagnetic spectrum, radio waves, propagation, and an array of radio frequencies with the High Desert Amateur Radio Group. Learn about the different types of radios operations and licensing requirements, emergency radio uses, and training opportunities. They will highlight emergency communications at local events including the Pole Peddle Paddle, Cascade 100, and Mud Slinger events and how Ham radio is used to communicate around the world on a single wire.
The High Desert Amateur Radio Group is dedicated to the advancement and enjoyment of amateur radio, and to promote the hobby, help with community service activities, explore new technologies, support public events and many other types of ham radio activities.
