Matthew Friday shares his imagery rich and delightfully playful poetry.
British born resident, Matthew Friday will read poems from his book The Residents, published by Finishing Lines Press. He will also include some stories and anecdotes about being a resident of the US and Oregon. There will be plenty of opportunities for questions along the way. At the end, there will be time to purchase signed copies of the book.
Matthew James Friday is a writer and teacher from England. He has several degrees from the UK, including being a public school teacher. He has taught K-8 students in schools all around the world. He met his Bend-born wife Jill in Germany! Matthew is also a professional storyteller for children. As a storyteller, he has visited schools in three different continents. He developed an interactive model of storytelling that can be used in classroom teaching and to inspire students to become storytellers.
As a poet, Matthew has had many poems published in US and international journals from all over the world. He created and taught many workshops for conferences, colleges and training events to equip teachers with the skills to teach the reading and writing of poetry, and become storytellers. Matthew is a regular contributor to Edutopia.org, writing articles about poetry and storytelling.
Since arriving in the US, at the height of the COVID pandemic, Matthew has become a father, run half-marathons, learned to drive a car for the first time, and had a book published! He now lives with his wife and daughter in Bend, Oregon. The US feels like home now; he truly is a Resident.
