Explore something new!
Owl pellets, paracord survival bracelets, and your own trail mix concoction. Get reading for your next camping trip! Each month we explore a new idea, and this month it's nature! Take a look at owl pellets, dissect one, and discover what owls hack up after they're done eating. Learn how to create your own paracord bracelet, an important item in your survival kit. Finally make a delicious trail mix with our fun ingredients for your next hike or camping trip (but please don't hack it up).
This program is designed for ages 10-14. People with pet allergies should not dissect owl pellets.
If you are neurodivergent and attending in-person programming is difficult or causes discomfort, please reach out to Josie at josieh@deschuteslibrary.org to request a take-home kit with instructions and materials. We will have a limited number of kits for neurodivergent youth as well as autistic or neurodivergent adults that are interested in this program; kits will be appropriate for 10-14 year olds.
