The library is joining forces with The Environmental Center to bring you our first Teen Clothing Swap! Join us and learn how to Rethink Waste, refresh your wardrobe, and find out how to mend and alter clothing with our very own librarian, Betsey!
The Environmental Center is a non-profit that serves as a regional hub for environmental education, engagement, and action. We carry out our mission to embed sustainability into daily life in Central Oregon through our five programs: Rethink Waste, Climate Solutions, Youth Education, School Gardens, and Advocacy. The Rethink Waste Project envisions a community that understands the upstream and downstream impacts of using Earth's resources and makes responsible decisions about the consumption, use, and disposal of materials. Our presentations cover the environmental impact of our consumption- from the harvesting of raw materials to where items go when we throw them "away." We focus on equipping the community with tools to rethink, reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle to decrease our waste and move towards a more sustainable relationship with Earth's resources.
Deschutes Public Library has a mission to enrich the community through equitable, open access to books, services, and resources that inspire people to reach for their dreams.
Librarian and Textile Artist Betsey will have mending and upcycling tips, tricks, and tools for making previously loved garments new and just for you!
