Join us for this 1-hour guided Forest Bathing experience in beautiful Shevlin Park. You will be led through a series of Forest Bathing invitations by a local Certified Forest Therapy Guide.
What is Forest Bathing?
"Forest bathing, also known as Shinrin Yoku, is a practice where participants bathe themselves in the forest atmosphere. There is no water involved in this practice, and the bathing refers to immersing oneself in nature and the phytoncides, a group of chemicals which plants use to communicate with each other. Scientists are finding that our bodies respond to these chemical signals in ways which are beneficial for us. Practicing forest bathing has been shown to increase immune response and decrease stress hormones in the body."
What to Expect?
We will begin by slowly walking on an unpaved trail. There will be invitations to meditate, share your experience with the group, sit or lay down on a yoga mat (provided), or stand and observe nature. Total hiking distance of 1 mile over uneven terrain.
Missie Wikler is a local Certified Forest Therapy Guide who has been guiding the local Bend community through outdoor wellness practices for over 3 years. She is trained with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy and guides with practices rooted in Traditional Japanese Forest Bathing techniques, Shinrin Yoku. "I look forward to guiding you!"
